Col grew up in Brisbane and came to Straddie from a tourism and business management back ground in 2006. The Battersby family has had business interests and real estate on Straddie for over 50 years. In addition to being Chair of the Straddie Chamber of Commerce, Col represents island businesses on the Redland City Council Economic Development Tourism Sub-Committee.
In addition, Col was the island business representative on the North Stradbroke Island Economic Transition Implimentation Committee, which oversaw the state government's $25M budget to transition Straddie's economy from predominantly a mining to a thriving sustainable tourism hub.
Since founding Discover in 2009, Col sees the opportunities that are available in Straddie's future as a sustainable tourism destination.
